Position Overview

This role is crucial for the daily management of the institution's inventory operations, including the canteen; overseeing the shipping, receiving, and storage of goods; coordinating the collection of materials and supplies as needed; maintaining a secure environment in compliance with institutional security protocols; and guiding and training inmate workers. This position involves significant responsibility and directly contributes to the safe, secure, and efficient functioning of the institution. The role requires independent execution of various tasks within a unique operational setting akin to a large and diverse retail environment.

Compensation Details

This position falls within pay schedule/range 3-10, starting at a rate of $18.12/hour, accompanied by excellent benefits. Pay for current state employees may vary based on applicable compensation provisions.

Job Requirements

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may require pre-employment drug screenings. Candidates offered positions requiring such screenings must successfully pass as a condition of employment.

Criminal background checks will be conducted on applicants prior to selection. All new employees are subject to fingerprinting upon hire.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess education, experience, and/or training in the following areas:

  • Management of shipping, receiving, and storage of all goods within the institution's warehouse and products available for sale in the canteen.
  • Inventory maintenance utilizing appropriate software tracking and purchasing systems.
  • Supervision, training, and oversight of inmate workers assigned to the warehouse, including task delegation, conflict resolution, and access control to tools and supplies.
  • Ensuring a secure environment in the warehouse in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Conducting regular inspections of the premises, including multiple daily rounds of the warehouse.

Special Requirements

Candidates must be capable of performing heavy lifting and possess a valid driver's license. Ability to operate a flatbed or box truck, including maneuvering in and out of loading docks, is essential. This position may involve lifting heavy objects up to 75 lbs regularly. Some roles may require fleet eligibility, necessitating a valid driver's license and compliance with driving requirements.
