Position Overview: The Senior Vice President of Quality Assurance will lead all quality assurance operations, regulatory compliance, and auditing functions for the Gourmet Food Brands under 1-800-FLOWERS.COM. This pivotal role is tasked with developing and sustaining quality methodologies that guarantee all supplier partners, as well as both purchased and internally produced products, align with the regulatory, business quality, and food safety standards of the Enterprise Food Brands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Guide teams through periods of growth and transformation while upholding a customer-centric approach.
  • Team Development: Recruit and cultivate a diverse and inclusive workforce to ensure the organization is equipped to meet growth aspirations and evolving customer demands.
  • Operational Oversight: Coordinate the annual operational strategy for the facility, ensuring production and budgetary goals are met.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with external partners, including third-party vendors and consultants, to foster transparency and effective decision-making.
  • Strategic Planning: Design and implement comprehensive business strategies, plans, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Specific Duties:

  • Oversee the corporate food safety initiative, ensuring top-tier certification through rigorous procedure verification, training, and program validation.
  • Address issues promptly to uphold the safety, legality, and quality of products and services.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities within functional areas to promote teamwork and drive departmental objectives.
  • Establish policies that provide clear direction and manage exceptions in response to new regulations or internal processes.
  • Foster a work environment that recognizes and rewards a culture of food safety, innovation, and cost efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year technical degree in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Food Science, or a related field is required; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of technical experience with food and food-related products in a manufacturing context.
  • 7-10 years of experience leading a successful quality assurance organization in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in managing and developing staff for over 5 years.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations, FSMA, and SQF certification criteria is essential.

Travel Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
