Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Specialist to join our team at the Coast Guard Community Services Command. This is a full-time position that requires a high level of administrative support to upper-level management functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of administrative functions, including establishing status of actions on numerous projects and program operations.
  • Review and interpret directives and regulations, maintaining official files and advising staff on development and implementation of local administrative directives and procedures.
  • Assist in the development of internal policies, procedures, and work methods affecting administrative management operations, ensuring compliance by managers and supervisors.
  • Prepare correspondence and drafts instructions, using a personal computer to transmit correspondence, create reports, databases, spreadsheets, graphics, slide shows, and presentations.
  • Manage the self-insured NAF Worker's Compensation program under the Longshore Act, overseeing claims servicing contractors and advising management on potential consequences of proposed solutions.
Requirements
  • One year of experience or education in administrative assistant or human resource experience, demonstrating broad knowledge of administrative practices and principles.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
