Overview

Northern Impact, a distinguished engineering firm recognized nationally, is in search of a dedicated Lead Civil Engineering Project Manager. This role involves collaborating with an expanding civil engineering team on a wide array of projects.

Current project engagements encompass civil site development for both new and revitalization initiatives, grading design, stormwater management (including hydraulic and hydrologic design, certification, and permitting), as well as civil utility design.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborating with the management team to:
- Pursue innovative projects and establish new client relationships.

Working alongside the management team to:
- Formulate marketing and business development strategies for the Civil Engineering division.

Engaging with the management team to:
- Identify essential resources and skills to effectively support the objectives of the Civil Engineering group.

- Proactively oversee multiple civil engineering projects concurrently, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality and precise outputs. This includes managing contracts, project timelines, budgeting, prioritizing tasks, and allocating staff and resources appropriately to achieve project goals, as well as leading meetings with management and external partners.

- Actively contribute to the project planning and design phases, which entails data collection, field investigations, and the development of design/feasibility studies, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and design reports.

- Maintain strong, positive relationships with existing clients and partners while cultivating new connections.

- Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the engineering sector.

- At least 5 years of experience in project management and client relations.

- A minimum of 5 years of civil design experience.

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the relevant state or willingness to obtain.

- Ability to tackle complex challenges, manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment, and demonstrate sound judgment under pressure.

- Capacity to identify potential project and design issues early and respond swiftly to resolve them.

- Adaptability to changing client requests, project timelines, staff availability, and management expectations.

- Strong communication skills with a proven history of successful client interactions and collaboration with internal teams.


- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

- Additional certifications relevant to your expertise and interests are preferred but not mandatory.

- Proficiency in civil engineering design software is advantageous, including Civil 3D, MicroStation, GIS, Excel, and stormwater modeling tools such as SLAMM, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, C3D, etc.

- Familiarity with marketing and business development is a plus.

- Understanding of basic construction management principles is beneficial.

- Knowledge of fundamental surveying principles is an asset.

- Experience in preparing and delivering presentations for clients and larger audiences at conferences and training sessions is preferred.
