Position Overview:

As a Practical Nurse in the Cardiology Unit at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care. This position is eligible for a generous sign-on bonus, recognizing both new graduates and experienced LPNs who commit to our organization.

Sign-On Bonus Details:
  • New Graduates (0 to less than 1 year experience) - $5,000 sign-on bonus available for LPNs with a two-year commitment.
  • Experienced LPNs (1 or more years of experience) - $7,500 sign-on bonus available for LPNs with a two-year commitment.

About the Unit:
The Cardiology Unit consists of specialized medical care areas equipped with telemetry beds in private rooms. We cater to patients with diverse cardiac conditions, including heart failure, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and more. Our team emphasizes patient education and lifestyle modifications to enhance heart health and promote effective home care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate as a member of the healthcare team, utilizing sound nursing judgment based on your training and experience.
  • Participate in the planning, execution, and assessment of nursing care, ensuring focused evaluations in all nursing settings.
  • Communicate effectively with licensed professionals and healthcare team members to address patient care needs that exceed your scope of practice.
  • Maintain comprehensive patient documentation to enhance communication among caregivers and support quality patient experiences.
  • Provide thorough education to patients and families, guiding them through their care journey and transitions.
  • Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and patients, demonstrating accountability and commitment to care.

Qualifications:
  • Previous healthcare experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Successful completion of a Licensed Practical Nursing Program accredited by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to assess and respond to the unique needs of patients across various age groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Physical stamina and mobility to perform essential nursing duties.

Licensure and Certifications:
Maintaining state licensure is essential for this role, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. All LPNs must complete the licensure examination within the designated timeframe following hire.
