About the Role:
UPMC is seeking a full-time Practical Nursing Specialist (LPN) to join our Adult Acute Care unit. This is an excellent opportunity for LPNs who are eager to enhance their clinical expertise in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Unit Description:
The Adult Acute Care unit is a 30-bed adaptable General Medicine Unit, catering to a diverse patient demographic with various medical needs, including but not limited to hepatology, urology, endocrinology, and post-surgical recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate effectively as a member of the healthcare team, utilizing sound nursing judgment based on your training and experience.
  • Engage in the planning, execution, and assessment of nursing care, ensuring patient-centered approaches.
  • Communicate effectively with licensed professionals and healthcare team members to address patient care needs that exceed the LPN's scope of practice.
  • Document patient care comprehensively to enhance communication among caregivers and improve patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Provide thorough education to patients and families to facilitate their understanding of care processes and transitions.
  • Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and demonstrate accountability and commitment to patient care.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
  • Previous healthcare experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills relevant to the patient population served.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with patients and team members.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electronic health records.

Licensure and Certifications:
Must maintain state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse and hold Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
