About the Role

This position is designed for individuals who want to develop their ministry skills and contribute to the growth of Young Life.

As a Ministry Development Specialist, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow in your ministry skills while serving as part of the Young Life team. You will develop your abilities to carry out and manage ministry through a combination of formal training and direct field experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spiritual Development:
    • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life, including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and a sincere commitment to understanding God's Word.
    • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within an active church community.
    • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
    • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Leadership Development:
    • Maintain regular meetings with volunteer leaders and area leadership.
    • Recruit and train new leaders to build a diverse leadership team that reflects the community.
    • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping to other leaders.
    • Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committees on effective teamwork and ministry strategy development.
  • Resource Development:
    • Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices.
    • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
    • Nurture strategic relationships with key adults in the community, including principals, pastors, parents, potential committee members, and assigned individuals.
    • Plan and execute area fundraising events under the direction of an area supervisor and committee.
  • Direct Ministry:
    • Engage actively in all three levels of contact work.
    • Lead a team to plan and conduct a new or existing Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry with excellence.
    • Implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for a ministry.
    • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.

Requirements:

A college degree is preferred. Experience in direct ministry is essential, demonstrating proven relational skills with both kids and adults, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Work Conditions:

This role involves working in various environments, including camps, which can be physically demanding, requiring staff to handle extreme temperatures, dirt, long hours, and physical activities such as hiking, horseback riding, and boating.

Salary: $47,500 - $57,500 per year (dependent on location and experience)
