About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated intern to support our Development Department in New York City.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in non-profit fundraising and learn about non-profit development and fundraising through hands-on tasks.

The intern will work closely with members of our Development team and have the opportunity to learn about fundraising outreach, event planning, and donor stewardship.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the team in fundraising research and outreach, including corporate sponsorships, in-kind donations, and vendors.
  • Provide general administrative support to the development team, including scheduling meetings, organizing documents, and performing other clerical tasks as needed.
  • Help maintain databases and spreadsheets related to event attendees, sponsors, donors, and other relevant information.
  • Assist with recruiting and coordinating volunteers for events and in the office.
  • Assist with stewardship activities, such as writing thank you notes and updating constituent records.
  • Create promotional materials like flyers, posters, and digital graphics.
  • Assist in event planning process – logistics and outreach.
  • Fundraising team engagement and outreach.
  • Opportunity for public speaking during regular all staff meetings.
Requirements
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams) required; experience with donor databases (Raiser's Edge, Luminate Online, etc.) preferred.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a team or independently as needed.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members, potential donors, and/or other third parties.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
