Position Overview: The Pharmaceutical Care Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the prior authorization process, ensuring adherence to established protocols and documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurate and timely identification and submission of prior and retro authorization requests to payors.
  • Engagement with clients, insurance providers, and patients to facilitate prior authorization requests.
  • Documentation of account activities and updates to patient and claim information.
  • Demonstration of proficiency with Epic, CoverMyMeds, and other billing systems to optimize claims processing.
  • Identification of trends and issues related to prior authorizations that may lead to delays in claims processing.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in retail or outpatient pharmacy practice.
  • Current licensure as a pharmacy technician by the relevant state health department.
  • Experience in a specialized pharmacy setting or centralized prior authorization services is advantageous.
