Patient Service Representative

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing exceptional patient service and support in a medical office setting. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients, answer phone calls, take messages, and provide necessary information while documenting all interactions accurately and completely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Scheduling and Registration: Schedule patient appointments, register patients, and confirm demographic data on registration systems.
- Insurance and Billing: Obtain insurance cards, verify information, and determine insurance coordination of benefits. Complete the Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) questionnaire when applicable.
- Payment and Reconciliation: Collect patient payments, provide accurate receipts, and post payments in the system.
- Departmental Support: Maintain departmental work queues and reports as required.
- Medical Records: Prepare medical records for patient appointments by compiling information from various sources.
- Company Values: Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abide by service behavior standards.
Requirements:
- Customer Service Experience: One year of customer service experience involving interactions with customers in person and by phone.
- Professional Manner: Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Computer Skills: Demonstrated basic computer skills and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medical Office Experience: Medical office experience.
Work Environment:
This position is located in the Billings Downtown Clinic and requires a 40-hour workweek.
