Patient Financial Services Representative

About the Role
The Patient Financial Services Representative plays a crucial role in shaping the experience of patients at Billings Clinic by delivering exceptional customer support within the Patient Financial Services Call Center. This position involves addressing a wide range of inquiries from patients regarding both hospital and clinic services, ensuring concerns are resolved efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a positive and lasting impression of the Patient Financial Services Department to patients and their families.
- Respond to inquiries via a multi-line phone system, assisting with account reconciliations and addressing complaints regarding services.
- Educate patients and guarantors about their self-pay balances and payment arrangements, both verbally and through written communication.
- Conduct follow-up calls to ensure timely resolution of patient inquiries.
- Verify and obtain payments on self-pay balances in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Engage with patients or family members to discuss financial matters related to past due accounts and establish payment plans.
- Document all collection activities in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with the insurance call center to ensure accurate claim submissions.
- Utilize performance improvement strategies to enhance service quality.
- Identify personal development needs and set goals for professional growth.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards relevant to job performance.
Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED required.
Experience: A minimum of one year of office experience is preferred. Previous experience in collections or patient accounts is advantageous.
