About the Role

Path Construction is seeking a skilled Project Accountant to join our team in the Chicago area. As a general contractor with a strong presence in the United States, we are looking for an individual with expertise in construction project cost management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and manage new projects in our Job Cost System
  • Process payroll, insurance, and overhead allocations to projects
  • Review and track general ledger posting of construction draws for multiple projects
  • Ensure timely receipt of Subcontractor/Supplier Waivers of Lien
  • Verify compliance with Path Construction requirements for W-9's, Insurance Certificates, EEO, and other documents
  • Manage accounts receivable and understand the construction billing and collections process
  • Assist in the follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable invoices and ensure positive cash flow
  • Support special projects as requested
  • Process contracts and change orders accurately and timely
  • Analyze project variances and work with the project team to ensure corrective action
  • Report on project profitability to management
  • Collaborate with customers to ensure their reporting needs are met
  • Close out project accounts upon project completion
  • Compile information for external auditors, as required
Requirements
  • A college degree in accounting/business administration or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2-5 years previous experience in a construction project cost environment
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel, Sage Construction CRE 300, and Paychex
