Renewable Operations Center (ROC) Analyst

The ROC Analyst plays a vital role within the Renewables Operation Center (ROC) team, which is dedicated to monitoring and managing Solar PV power generation and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across North America. This position involves collaboration with field operations and maintenance teams overseeing over 1200 generation facilities under contract for operations and maintenance services. The assets monitored by the ROC include a variety of installations, from commercial rooftops to large-scale utility systems connected to distribution or transmission networks.

Due to stringent protocols set by energy asset owners and regulatory bodies, a criminal background check will be required prior to employment.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyst
  • Present reports to clients with a strong grasp of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of the sites under review.
  • Detail-oriented, consistently delivering accurate reporting documents.
  • Quickly identify underperformance issues and understand contributing factors affecting site equipment.
  • Provide logical and analytically sound reasoning in all reporting and analysis.
  • Know the appropriate contacts for specific issues that arise.
  • Demonstrate initiative and require minimal reminders for task completion.
  • Understand how various elements influence data and performance.
  • Have a solid understanding of solar design principles.
  • Conduct specialized performance evaluations effectively.
  • Adjust reports as necessary, comprehending how calculations are derived and executed.
Junior Analyst
  • Identify inconsistencies during site reviews.
  • Possess a basic understanding of solar design.
  • Capable of generating standard reports.
  • Communicate professionally with clients.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to learn independently and with guidance.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in an analytical role or similar position is preferred.

• Experience in the solar energy sector is advantageous.

• Educational background in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field is a plus.

• Proficient computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize MS Office suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), unique plant SCADA systems, and network/communication systems for identifying plant interconnectivity issues.

• Passion for renewable energy with meticulous attention to detail.

• Awareness of cyber and physical security responsibilities in critical infrastructure settings.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Ability to interpret electrical connection diagrams in substations and solar and battery energy systems.

• Focus on safety, understanding that the operations center acts as an extension of the field team and must adhere to safety protocols.

• High level of curiosity and technical aptitude.

• Adaptable and open to change and ongoing technological advancements.

• Team-oriented, confident in presenting ideas, contributing to discussions, and eager to learn.
