Department Overview:
The Institute for Health Disparities (IHD) is dedicated to research, training, and community outreach focused on minority health, health disparities, and workforce diversity. The IHD includes several initiatives such as the Texas Center for Health Disparities and the National Research Mentoring Network.

Role Summary:
The Senior Budget Analyst will collaborate closely with the Vice President and Executive Director of IHD, along with various financial and administrative departments across the university system. This role is pivotal in delivering efficient research administration services to IHD stakeholders. The position is based at the UNT Health Science Center and reports directly to Dr. Jamboor Vishwanatha, Regents Professor and Vice President.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with four (4) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of research-related OMB Circulars, Uniform Guidance, effort reporting, cost sharing, and overhead rates.
  • Familiarity with accounting standards (GAAP, GASB, CASB) and internal control procedures.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
  • Proficient in report writing tools, such as Summit dashboard and SQL.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, with five years of directly related experience in sponsored research accounting.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee financial management for the AIM-AHEAD project, including grant and contract funding.
  • Manage the invoicing process for sub-contracts related to sponsored projects, addressing any accounting discrepancies.
  • Research and implement cost-effective strategies and best practices in financial operations.
  • Prepare annual budgets and forecast five-year budget projections for grants and projects.
  • Review and approve reimbursement requests, purchases, and personnel actions related to sponsored research, ensuring compliance with funding availability and contract terms.
  • Compile and submit financial reports for sponsors, including interim and final reports, and conduct grant closeout functions.
  • Process journal entries for various financial transactions and perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
