Position Overview:
The Physician Advisor plays a crucial role in delivering clinical oversight and leadership in the management of patient care. This position involves providing expert consultation on quality of care, medical decision-making, and safety concerns related to case evaluations and levels of care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts physician reviews in accordance with best practice standards and regulatory requirements, aiming for enhanced outcomes for members.
  • Collaborates with healthcare providers and stakeholders to address clinical and medical issues, including member placement and quality concerns.
  • Engages in quality assessments for specific member grievances and agency evaluations.
  • Represents medical affairs in clinical and administrative meetings as required.
  • Facilitates training and educational sessions for internal and external stakeholders, including care managers and providers.
  • Reviews cases across various sites and levels of care to determine medical necessity.
  • Performs peer reviews for contested levels of care.
  • Interacts with providers on clinical and administrative issues.
  • Acts as a consultant for Clinical Care Managers.
  • Completes additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Medical degree (MD or DO)
  • Licensure/Certification: Pennsylvania Licensure; Board Certification in Adult or Child Psychiatry
  • Experience: At least 2 years of clinical psychiatry experience, particularly in inpatient care and substance abuse treatment.
  • Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Work Environment:
  • Travel within the designated area may be required.
  • Physical activities include walking, standing, and repetitive movements throughout the workday.
  • Regular use of computers and office equipment is necessary.
  • Work is primarily conducted indoors in well-lit and ventilated areas.
Residency Requirement:
The successful candidate must be a resident of the area or commit to relocating within a specified timeframe.
