The Community Choice Financial Family of Brands is actively seeking a Regulatory Counsel. The Regulatory Counsel will innovatively develop solutions to effectively identify, mitigate, and manage regulatory and reputational risks. Additionally, this position involves overseeing the company’s licensing operations, including the submission of new licensing applications, renewals, and management of the corporate structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a regulatory subject matter expert, focusing on consumer lending regulations and state laws, while advising internal stakeholders on compliance requirements and the management of associated legal risks.
  • Continuously monitor legislative, regulatory, and supervisory changes, providing analysis and guidance to internal teams on their implications.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies on significant compliance areas as necessary, fostering relationships and facilitating the examination process.
  • Support the regulatory examination management team in their activities as required.
  • Draft and update company documentation in response to changes in regulatory or statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal team members and various business units as part of cross-functional initiatives.
  • Address inquiries and provide guidance to employees regarding the implementation of regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain key relationships across the organization to ensure effective delivery of results.
  • Offer constructive feedback on processes, regulatory changes, controls, and remediation of deficiencies.
  • Participate in a diverse range of legal and risk-related matters as needed.
  • Review all marketing, training, and communication materials directed at employees and customers.
  • Lead the licensing team responsible for obtaining, renewing, and maintaining all necessary company licenses, while effectively managing corporate documentation and entity formation.
  • Identify opportunities for expanding product offerings into new markets.
  • Engage external legal counsel and resources as necessary.
  • Maintain a full-time work schedule with regular in-person attendance during standard business hours.
  • Meet the physical demands of the position, which include remaining stationary, moving about the office, and operating mechanical controls such as a keyboard.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed attorney with a minimum of 7 years of experience in banking, regulatory, and related fields.
  • Preferred experience in a major law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Graduate of an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
  • Exemplary ethical standards and integrity.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Service-oriented mindset with a focus on risk management.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Able to effectively engage with a diverse range of internal clients.
