Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Job Summary:The Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and implementing effective health and safety programs at our facility. This role requires a strong understanding of various safety regulations and standards, as well as experience in implementing EHS systems and providing training to comply with requirements and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure all management staff and operational personnel are aware of current and pending regulatory requirements, permit conditions, and other restrictions imposed by federal, state, and local authorities.
- Assist in creating processes that identify, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace.
- Provide and track training to comply with applicable OSHA requirements.
- Implement and maintain required OSHA compliance programs/processes.
- Provide industrial hygiene support as needed to evaluate employee noise and other health exposures.
- Direct the development and implementation of new environmental programs.
- Assist in managing all mandatory air, water, and waste compliance assurance-monitoring activities at the facility, including DOT.
- Establish and maintain appropriate chemical inventory record systems to satisfy regulatory tracking requirements.
- Provide training for staff in relation to environmental, health and safety policies, practices, and procedures.
- Assist with environmental incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective actions as needed.
- Interface with regulatory agencies as needed.
- Provide leadership and support for implementation and sustainability of the BBS (Behavioral Based Safety) process.
- Serve as Emergency Response Coordinator for the facility, assisting with the coordination of emergency services and contractors.
- Professional certification is desired.
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline or other program applicable to the health, safety, and environmental fields are required.
- Requires minimum of 5 years of experience working in safety within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of various safety regulations or standards (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, etc.) and implementing EHS systems, providing training to comply with requirements and regulations.
- Implementing both proactive and preventative safety programs and procedures to reduce incidents and accidents.
- Experience assisting with environmental and safety incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective actions.
- Experience in providing leadership and support for implementation and sustainability of the BBS (Behavioral Based Safety) process.
