Job Summary

Vets Hired is seeking a highly skilled Naval Navigation Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for conducting research, testing, and evaluation of USN submarine navigation systems, particularly the Voyage Management System (VMS) and Navy Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDISN).

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and Development: Conduct thorough research and testing of USN submarine navigation systems to identify areas for improvement and develop innovative solutions.
  • System Evaluation: Evaluate the performance of VMS and ECDISN systems to ensure they meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise to submarines, focusing on system integration, laboratory support, installation planning, and technical support.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of navigation, combat systems, EW, weapons, radar engineers/technicians, and subject matter experts to ensure effective work partnerships.
  • Fleet Support: Provide technical support and SME for Software Functionality Developmental Testing (DT), at-sea Operational Testing (OT), and Follow-on Testing and Evaluation (FOT&E).
Requirements and Skills
  • Experience: Candidate with significant 4 years demonstrated experience operating Electronics and Navigation systems (especially Navy and Submarine specific equipment) will be strongly considered.
  • DoD Navigation Systems: Experience with DoD Navigation Systems like VMS and ECDISN.
  • MS Office Software: A working knowledge of MS Office software.
  • Teamwork: Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Security Clearance: Position requires U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance with the US government. An active security clearance is strongly preferred.
