Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee contractor design and production engineering outputs.
  • Evaluate engineering analyses, design, and technical components of proposals.
  • Provide direction and oversight to contractor staff engaged in supporting the engineering department's review of submitted work.
  • Assess incoming communications and prepare outgoing technical guidance.
  • Conduct ship inspections and related activities, facilitating the resolution of technical issues in cognitive systems and equipment.
Employment Conditions

  • Successful completion of a pre-appointment physical examination is necessary.
Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as an engineering technician. This experience should include providing guidance on the application of detailed specifications or military specifications related to Naval Architecture. Examples of relevant experience include certification of contractor docking and launching facilities, stability assessments for surface ships and submarines, weight control, habitability and arrangement of spaces, and ship structures.

Experience includes both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer activities through National Service programs.

This role is part of the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
