We are currently seeking a Behavioral Support Advocate for our preschool program. This role focuses on delivering behavioral assistance to students within the classroom setting, aiming to foster student independence through age-appropriate and functional strategies.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM; 32.5 hours per week, following the school calendar.

Compensation: $18.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather data as part of a functional behavior assessment.
  • Observe and adjust behavioral strategies and interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with classroom educators to effectively implement positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Address challenging behaviors in the classroom using evidence-based practices.
  • Ensure that individual students' IEPs, particularly behavioral objectives, are met.
  • Assist in facilitating individual and group activities within the classroom.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Support therapy sessions to aid in behavior management and ensure effective carryover in the classroom.
  • Help organize and arrange the classroom in accordance with each student's therapeutic behavior plan.
  • Assist students with mobility needs, promoting independence while ensuring safety.
  • Accompany students to all special classes (e.g., PE, art, music).
  • Support students in dressing and undressing for outdoor activities, fostering self-sufficiency.
  • Provide necessary toileting assistance, ensuring dignity and respect.
  • Manage changes of clothing as required.
  • Set up and maintain adaptive equipment and communication devices.
  • Adhere to the agency's Code of Legal and Ethical Conduct, ensuring responsibilities are performed with integrity and respect.
  • Follow all agency policies and procedures, prioritizing personal and others' safety.
  • Engage in additional job-related tasks as directed by supervisors.
  • Utilize CORE concepts of person-centered excellence, respecting individuals' rights and concerns.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A combination of education and experience that meets the program's needs.
