A temporary position for an Educational Support Specialist is currently open within our Preschool Program. This role presents an opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering educational programming tailored to all school-age children, regardless of their abilities. The specialist will be responsible for addressing the daily needs of students and supporting the teacher in executing classroom activities.

Salary Range: $17.85

Position Responsibilities

  • Attend to the educational, physical, social, and emotional needs of students while assisting the teacher in classroom activities.
  • Adhere to the classroom schedule, ensuring the implementation of individual student goals and the collection of relevant data.
  • Provide instruction to individual students as outlined by the Special Education Supervisor in their Individual Education Program (IEP) goals.
  • Assist students in utilizing educational software and resources.
  • Document and report on individual student progress, aiding the teacher in maintaining student portfolios.
  • Support the development of instructional materials created by the teacher.
  • Help organize and arrange the classroom to foster an effective learning environment.
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Escort and assist students to and from transportation, promoting independence in mobility.
  • Ensure a safe and adequate level of supervision for students, seeking guidance from supervisors when necessary.
  • Assist in various classroom activities according to staffing patterns and student needs, including toileting, small group activities, and meal supervision.
  • Participate in professional meetings and training sessions, contributing knowledge to fellow staff members (minimum of 30 hours every two years).
  • Engage in training and webinars related to the designated curriculum for UPK and integrate it into classroom practices.
  • Uphold the Code of Ethical and Legal Behavior, adhering to Corporate Compliance and HIPAA standards, as well as all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Incorporate core concepts of CQL philosophy into daily operations and support methods.
  • Support the agency's vision and mission.
  • Follow all agency policies and procedures, maintaining a focus on personal and others' safety.
  • Perform other relevant job-related tasks as assigned by supervisors or program directors.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in early childhood and special education is preferred.
  • Ability to assist students with mobility needs, including lifting and maneuvering wheelchairs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
