Work Schedule:

This position allows for 2 remote workdays each week.

Core Responsibilities:

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, your primary role will be to design and deliver speech-language therapy services to students experiencing speech, voice, or language challenges. You will evaluate students and provide or coordinate therapeutic interventions aimed at alleviating or minimizing issues that hinder their educational progress.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

A Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited institution.

A valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

Essential Skills:

Proficiency in utilizing recognized assessments to evaluate communication disorders.

In-depth knowledge of the evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation processes for speech-language disorders.

Ability to instruct and manage student behavior effectively.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Key Duties:

Therapeutic Services:

Conduct thorough evaluations to assess students with speech or language disorders and provide tailored individual and group therapy aligned with the goals outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Monitor student progress and make informed decisions regarding therapy services.

Develop clinical management strategies and diagnostic statements.

Engage in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee, assisting in the interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students with communication disorders.

Consultation:

Collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents to discuss therapy goals, student needs, and involvement in the remedial process.

Work alongside classroom teachers to design and implement activities that enhance students' communication skills.

Provide professional development opportunities within assigned schools to aid staff in effectively supporting students with communication challenges.

Student Management:

Create a supportive learning environment tailored to the maturity and interests of students.

Program Oversight:

Develop and oversee an ongoing evaluation of speech-language pathology services, making adjustments based on findings.

Participate in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.

Maintain accurate records and documentation of all reports and required documents.

Actively engage in assessment team organization and planning to ensure compliance with federal and state evaluation expectations.

Adhere to policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education regulations, and district policies.

May supervise licensed speech-language pathology assistants or aides.

Additional Responsibilities:

Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Supervisory Duties:

May oversee the work of speech-language pathology assistants or aides.

Mental and Physical Demands:

Tools/Equipment: Standard testing equipment and office equipment including computers.

Posture: Frequent sitting, kneeling, bending, and twisting.

Motion: Regular walking and grasping activities.

Lifting: Light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds), with occasional heavier lifting (45 pounds or more) as needed.

Environment: Exposure to biological hazards and communicable diseases; may require travel.

Mental Demands: Ability to maintain emotional control under pressure and work with frequent interruptions.

*Supervisors of licensed speech-language assistants must hold a valid license from TDLR.
