Key Responsibilities

The Home Health Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is tasked with assessing and evaluating patient care needs related to speech and language disorders, as well as providing functional training in communication, swallowing, and cognitive challenges.

  • Deliver services within the scope of practice as defined by state regulations governing speech therapy, in accordance with the care plan, and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Assess the patient's functional level by utilizing diagnostic and prognostic tests. Collaborate with the physician to develop the therapy care plan.
  • Facilitate effective communication for patients by helping them articulate their thoughts in alignment with their condition, adhering to accepted standards of practice.
  • Educate the patient, their family, and/or caregivers, as well as other healthcare team members, on aspects of speech therapy in which they can engage.

Required Qualifications

License Requirements

  • Must hold a current license in Speech Therapy within the state of practice
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance, along with access to reliable transportation or public transit
