Key Responsibilities

The Home Health Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is tasked with assessing and evaluating patient care requirements concerning speech and language disorders, as well as providing functional training in communication, swallowing, and cognitive challenges.

  • Deliver services within the professional scope as defined by state regulations governing speech therapy, in alignment with the care plan, and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Assess the patient's functional capabilities through diagnostic and prognostic evaluations. Collaborate with the physician to formulate the therapy care plan.
  • Facilitate effective communication for patients by adapting expressions to their specific conditions while adhering to established practice standards.
  • Educate the patient, their family, and/or caregivers, along with other healthcare team members, on aspects of speech therapy that they can engage in.

Required Qualifications

Licensing Criteria

  • Must hold a valid Speech Therapy license in the practicing state
  • Current CPR certification is required
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance are necessary, along with access to reliable transportation or public transit
