Work Schedule:

This position offers 2 remote workdays each week.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Delivery:

Design and implement speech-language pathology services for students experiencing speech, voice, or language challenges. Evaluate students and provide or coordinate therapeutic interventions aimed at alleviating or minimizing issues that hinder the student's ability to fully benefit from their educational experience.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited institution.

Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for Speech-Language Pathologists (TDLR).

Essential Skills:

Proficient in utilizing standardized assessments to evaluate communication disorders.

Understanding of the evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation processes for speech-language disorders.

Ability to instruct and manage student behavior effectively.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Major Duties:

Therapeutic Interventions:

Conduct independent assessments to evaluate students with speech or language disorders and provide suitable individual and group therapy aligned with the speech and language objectives outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Monitor student progress and make informed decisions regarding therapy services.

Develop clinical management strategies and diagnostic assessments.

Engage in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee. Aid in interpreting assessment data, determining appropriate placements, and setting goals for students with communication disorders according to district protocols.

Consultative Support:

Collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents to discuss therapy goals, student needs, and involvement in the remediation process.

Work alongside classroom teachers to design and implement activities that enhance students' communication abilities.

Provide professional development opportunities in assigned schools to assist staff in effectively supporting students with communication challenges.

Student Engagement:

Create a learning environment that is suitable for the maturity level and interests of students.

Program Oversight:

Develop and oversee a continuous evaluation of speech-language pathology services and make adjustments based on findings.

Participate in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.

Maintain accurate physical and digital records, reports, and other necessary documentation.

Actively engage in assessment team organization and planning to ensure compliance with all federal and state evaluation and ARD requirements.

Adhere to policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education regulations, and district policies. Follow all district and campus routines and regulations.

May supervise licensed speech-language pathology assistants or aides.

Additional Responsibilities:

Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Supervisory Duties:

May oversee and guide the work of speech-language pathology assistants or aides.

Work Environment:

Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases; may involve travel across various district locations.

Mental and Physical Demands:

Frequent interruptions; maintain emotional stability under pressure.

Regular light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds), occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds or more), and assisting students with physical disabilities.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard testing equipment; standard office equipment including computers and peripherals.
