Key Responsibilities

The Home Health Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is tasked with assessing and evaluating patient care needs related to speech and language disorders, as well as providing functional training in communication, swallowing, and cognitive challenges.

  • Deliver services within the defined scope of practice as per state regulations, adhering to the care plan, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
  • Assess the patient's functional level through diagnostic and prognostic tests, assisting physicians in developing the therapy care plan.
  • Provide treatment to enhance patients' communication abilities, tailoring approaches to their specific conditions while adhering to established standards of practice.
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members on aspects of speech therapy in which they can engage.

Required Qualifications

Licensure Requirements

  • Must hold a current license in Speech Therapy within the practicing state.
  • Valid CPR certification is required.
  • A current driver's license and vehicle insurance, along with access to reliable transportation or public transit, are necessary.
