Our team includes engineering and design staff in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, and Architectural disciplines, who work together to deliver projects that exceed client expectations.

Job Summary

KAEKO is seeking an experienced Accountant III to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support by managing daily accounting activities, improving financial information, managing job costing needs, responding to customer issues, solving problems, and providing/reviewing financial reporting related to our company's activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
  • Accounting and Financial Record-Keeping: Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
  • Accounting System Development: Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
  • Business Operations Analysis: Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
  • Financial Reporting and Communication: Report to management regarding the finances of the establishment.
  • Record-Keeping and Accounting System Development: Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
  • Vendor Onboarding and Contract Management: Assist in onboarding new vendors and monitoring contractual requirements.
  • Invoicing and Accounts Management: Process high volumes of progressive and hourly-based invoicing in various client platforms.
  • Liens and Waivers: Manage filing of preliminary notices, maintain waivers, and filing of mechanics liens.
  • Accounts Receivable and Payable: Process all daily entries of accounts receivable and payable.
  • Collections: Assist in collections.
  • Contractual Compliance: Understand and adhere to contractual requirements with clients.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work with internal staff to ensure proper compliance with client accounting requirements.
  • Confidentiality and Security: Maintain company information in a secure and confidential manner.
  • Team Collaboration and Development: Contribute to team and company initiatives.
  • Financial Guidance and Mentoring: Advise others on financial matters.
  • Business Information Systems Development: Develop business or financial information systems.
  • Training and Development: Provide mentoring and training to junior-level accounting staff and Project Managers.
  • Accounting Team Management: Manage accounting team and department.
Requirements
  • Experience: 7+ years of relevant accounting experience, with a minimum of 4 years in the construction industry.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required, preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks, advanced experience working in Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Job Costing Accounting: Expert-level knowledge of job costing accounting.
  • GAAP Principles: Advanced knowledge and application of GAAP principles, standards, and procedures.
  • Construction Terminology: Strong understanding and articulate general construction terminology.
  • Communication: Capable of communicating effectively with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with direct and indirect teams.
  • Compliance: Expert-level understanding of compliance on all local, state, and federal financial regulations.
  • Team Management: Experience in managing a team of 2 or more junior-level account staff.
