SALARY RANGE: $79,200-$94,050

POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are in search of a meticulous and proactive Benefits Operations Manager to oversee the management of systems and vendors associated with Health and Welfare benefits. This position will be responsible for administering benefits for a diverse group of participants, including active employees and retirees, across various benefit plans and multiple vendors. The Manager will address service challenges, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with different teams to optimize benefits administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage systems and vendor relations for Health and Welfare benefits impacting over 20,000 participants, including active employees and retirees across 180+ benefit plans through 10+ vendors.
  • Ensure timely execution of all necessary processes, system feeds, business transactions, and reporting involving vendors and payroll.
  • Oversee external vendor relationships and manage data communications to ensure process effectiveness.
  • Analyze metrics for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and quality assurance.
  • Resolve service issues through root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate projects and initiatives with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with enrollment rules for benefits plans.
  • Prepare various monthly and annual reports and filings.
  • Collaborate with Health and Welfare, Legal, and Labor Relations teams on new benefit offerings and policy updates.
  • Administer compliance with SOX, ACA, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Manage Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs).
  • Act as a subject matter expert and primary contact for internal and external stakeholders to resolve process or customer issues.
  • Support Annual Enrollment and benefits management across various plans, including medical, dental, life, and disability coverage.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and proactively seek solutions to enhance existing practices.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencies and successfully implement new processes.
  • Assist Tier I and Tier II HR support teams with issue resolution, process design, and controls, and provide training on new initiatives and system enhancements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a large, complex organization managing multiple health and welfare benefit plans and vendors.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, project planning software, and web-based Human Resource information systems.
  • Strong service-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering structured, systematic business solutions.
  • Experience in a unionized environment under Collective Bargaining Agreements is preferred.
  • Other duties as assigned.
