iPhone Quality Operations Engineer

Role Overview

As a pivotal member of the Product Operations team, you will oversee and guide the technical operations team (including DFx, DFm, Test, SQE, PQE, and others) throughout the product development and high-volume production phases. In your capacity as the primary technical advisor for the product line, you will collaborate closely with Engineering to ensure operational excellence from development through to mass production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure technical readiness for all stages of the product introduction cycle, including preparing contract manufacturers for pre-production builds.
  • Formulate test strategies to guarantee outgoing functional quality in mass production and service channels.
  • Design custom testing solutions and tools to evaluate outgoing quality.
  • Oversee Outgoing Quality Control (OQC) and Customer Audit (CA) processes at OEM sites.
  • Establish a triage process for customer-facing issues and lead technical failure analysis to facilitate root cause identification and resolution.
  • Investigate factory OQC/CA and field returns functional failures to pinpoint gaps and enhance the outgoing testing process.
  • Travel internationally to support new product development builds as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: New Product Introduction, Test Development, or Hardware Design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with clear and consistent communication; data-driven and results-oriented mindset.
  • Highly motivated, inquisitive, and passionate about solving everyday challenges in innovative ways.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and proficiency in multiple programming languages, including C, C#, Objective C, Swift, and Python.
  • Experience collaborating with offshore manufacturers and managing high-volume production.
  • Background in hardware test development for manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of RF technologies and automation of RF signaling testers.
  • Proficient in statistics and statistical process control.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to present to executive-level audiences.
