About the Opportunity

Cook Inlet Tribal Council Inc. is seeking a Family Support Coordinator to join our Child & Family Services Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for working with families, caregivers, and community partners to support the well-being and safety of Alaska Native and American Indian children and youth.

In this role, you will coordinate support and resource linkages for parents, children, and youth who have been through the OCS Team Decision Making meeting process. This includes providing information to relatives to determine interest and availability for placement, conducting initial intake, screening, and assessment surveys with parents, and collaborating with internal and external service providers to meaningfully involve relatives in the lives of children in foster care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Support Networks: Assist parents in building informal support networks of family members and other supportive individuals to manage safety for their children.
  • Conduct Relative Searches: Use multiple sources to locate prospective relatives for children who experience foster care.
  • Coordinate Services: Collaborate with internal and external service providers to connect families with needed resources and services.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in human services, social work, or a related field is required. At least two years of experience working with Alaska Native families, knowledge of their values and belief systems, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are also essential.

Estimated Salary

$65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on experience.
