Position Overview

Role Responsibilities
In your capacity as the assistant to the Store Manager, you play a crucial role in maintaining the aesthetic and consistent presentation of our retail space, empowered to make decisions that enhance the shopping experience for our patrons.

You will engage in regular communication with the Store Manager to share your insights and strategies, ensuring that customer satisfaction remains a top priority while fostering the development of our bookselling team.

Key Duties
- Deliver outstanding service to customers by setting a positive example and training your team to uphold high standards.
- Maintain a vibrant retail environment through the meticulous execution of store fundamentals.
- Evaluate the store from the customer's viewpoint and utilize insights to drive improvements in collaboration with the Store Manager.
- Demonstrate effective selling techniques to promote successful initiatives such as featured book selections and preorders, enhancing sales performance.

Team Development
- Cultivate the skills of the bookselling team through engagement and coaching, providing constructive feedback to leverage individual strengths and identify potential for growth.

Operational Excellence
- Achieve sales targets and ensure operational efficiency by executing processes in a timely manner to minimize losses.
- Adhere to company standards regarding safety, customer communication, and all operational procedures.

Communication and Collaboration
- Foster a respectful and urgent communication culture within your team regarding key issues and messages, embodying the company's values.
- Embrace collaborative efforts across locations to enhance overall performance.

Physical Requirements
- Engage actively on the sales floor, which involves physical tasks such as prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and climbing.
- Responsible for opening and closing the store, ensuring the safety of both employees and customers.

Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of books across various genres and a strong grasp of the book retail industry.
- A genuine passion for literature that translates into exceptional service for the community.
- Proven experience in managing and nurturing team members at all levels.
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
