Restaurant Operations Supervisor

The primary role of the Restaurant Operations Supervisor is to oversee the daily functions of the restaurant during designated shifts or in the absence of the Restaurant General Manager (RGM). This position is crucial in supporting the RGM with strategic sales initiatives, profit optimization, and the training of team members, while also preparing for potential advancement to the RGM role.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide effective leadership within the restaurant by recognizing and motivating team members, including Shift Leaders and Shift Managers, while coaching them to achieve operational excellence.
  • Engage in hands-on operational tasks consistently to train staff, address customer service inquiries, and model appropriate skills and behaviors.
  • Demonstrate and uphold the principles of hospitality and utilize recognition programs to foster a positive work environment.
  • Assist in managing daily operations, including labor management, inventory control, and team development.
  • Supervise team members effectively and coordinate their tasks efficiently.
  • Continuously analyze sales, labor, inventory, and other controllable factors, taking corrective actions to meet or exceed sales and margin targets.
  • Collaborate with the RGM in the preparation of financial plans.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, health codes, and corporate policies.
  • Maintain the facility and equipment to meet company standards on a daily basis.
  • Recruit and select energetic and qualified team members using established tools and systems.
  • Support the RGM in developing staffing plans.
  • Train and mentor team members, Shift Leaders, and Shift Managers.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members at all levels.
  • Assist the RGM with performance management and apply progressive discipline when necessary.
  • Work closely with the RGM on corrective actions or terminations.
  • Help the RGM create action plans to address in-store challenges and effectively communicate these plans to the team.
  • Support local marketing initiatives as directed by the RGM.
  • Actively assist the RGM with the rollout of new products.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and corporate contacts.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • One to two years of experience in the food service industry or a related field.
  • Completion of relevant certification programs.
  • Training in leadership during the manager's absence.
