Role Overview: As a Product Quality Engineer, you will engage with both internal and external stakeholders to establish, develop, and implement processes that ensure the delivery of high-quality and dependable turbomachinery products.

This position is crucial for maintaining the reliability, quality, and performance of jet propulsion systems. Your expertise will play a significant role in the success of innovative projects within Anduril's product offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive quality assurance processes throughout the product development lifecycle in collaboration with the propulsion engineering team, including design evaluations, process enhancements, testing, and qualification of propulsion products.
  • Utilize the product maturity framework to formulate a quality plan in partnership with other organizations, ensuring adherence to program timelines and performance goals.
  • Work closely with propulsion design engineers to guarantee manufacturability and reliability.
  • Lead quality planning and execution aligned with customer design specifications and system integration, developing and implementing quality tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Take ownership of mitigating product and process risks to enhance quality and reliability throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support the planning and execution of comprehensive testing protocols for jet propulsion systems, including engine assembly, pre-test inspections, test initiation, and post-test evaluations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define and implement the product roadmap and delivery schedule for propulsion systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project meetings.
  • Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Material Review Board (MRB) initiatives, reviewing the effectiveness of actions and disseminating lessons learned.
  • Investigate failures, anomalies, and non-conformities associated with propulsion hardware.
  • Support the implementation of the Quality Management System across programs, defining and enhancing necessary documentation and activities.
  • Create and present quality metrics to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Prepare for and lead customer audits and reviews concerning contract deliverables for quality management and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in turbomachinery engineering, with a solid understanding of internal combustion engine fundamentals.
  • Experience in managing high-quality assembly and disassembly of complex projects and mechanical structures, including the development of drawings and work instructions.
  • Proven knowledge in the aerodynamics and thermodynamics of turbomachinery.
  • Experience in driving product quality and performance requirements for test and measurement system development and optimization.
  • Familiarity with product development methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), including Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data mining, quality metrics generation, issue management systems, and statistical analysis tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with air-breathing propulsion systems.
  • 5-7 years of experience in developing quality systems for low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing environments.
  • Professional experience in designing, testing, or operating air-breathing combustors and related systems.
  • Familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Experience with government contracts and MIL standard requirements.
