Role Overview: As a Product Quality Engineer, you will engage both internally and externally to establish, develop, and implement processes that ensure the delivery of high-quality and dependable turbomachinery products. This position is vital for maintaining the reliability, quality, and performance of jet propulsion systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive quality assurance processes throughout the product development lifecycle in collaboration with the propulsion engineering team.
  • Utilize product maturity frameworks to formulate quality plans with partner organizations, aligning with program schedules and performance metrics.
  • Work closely with propulsion design engineers to guarantee manufacturability and reliability.
  • Lead quality planning and execution to meet customer design specifications and system integration requirements.
  • Eliminate product and process risks to enhance quality and reliability across the product lifecycle.
  • Support the execution of rigorous testing protocols for jet propulsion systems, including engine assembly and post-test evaluations.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project meetings.
  • Conduct Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
  • Review the effectiveness of corrective actions and disseminate lessons learned across the product team.
  • Investigate failures and non-conformities related to propulsion hardware.
  • Support the implementation of the Quality Management System, refining documentation and activities as necessary.
  • Generate and present quality metrics to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and lead customer audits and reviews for quality management and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in turbomachinery engineering or quality engineering.
  • Proficient in the principles of internal combustion engines.
  • Experience in managing high-quality assembly and disassembly of complex mechanical structures.
  • Strong understanding of aerodynamics and thermodynamics in turbomachinery.
  • Familiarity with product development methodologies such as FMEA, APQP, and PPAP.
  • Analytical skills for data mining and statistical analysis.
  • Must be eligible for U.S. TS/SCI security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with air-breathing propulsion systems.
  • 5-7 years of experience in developing quality systems for complex manufacturing environments.
  • Professional experience in designing or testing air-breathing combustors and related systems.
  • Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
