Quality Assurance Engineer for Turbomachinery

Role Overview: As a Product Quality Engineer, you will play a vital role in defining, developing, and implementing processes that ensure the delivery of high-quality and dependable turbomachinery products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive quality assurance processes throughout the product development lifecycle in collaboration with the propulsion engineering team.
  • Utilize product maturity frameworks to establish quality plans in partnership with various organizations, ensuring alignment with program schedules and performance metrics.
  • Work closely with propulsion design engineers to guarantee manufacturability and reliability of products.
  • Lead quality planning initiatives to meet customer design specifications and system integration requirements.
  • Manage the identification and mitigation of product and process risks to enhance quality and reliability across the product lifecycle.
  • Support rigorous testing protocols for jet propulsion systems, including assembly checks and post-test evaluations.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project meetings to drive project success.
  • Conduct Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and oversee Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the Quality Management System, refining documentation and activities as necessary.
  • Generate and present quality metrics to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Prepare for and lead customer audits and reviews related to quality management and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in turbomachinery engineering, with a solid understanding of internal combustion engine fundamentals.
  • Proven experience in managing the assembly and disassembly of complex mechanical projects.
  • Strong knowledge of aerodynamics and thermodynamics related to turbomachinery.
  • Experience in developing quality systems for low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with product development methodologies such as FMEA, APQP, and PPAP.
  • Analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools.

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with air-breathing propulsion systems.
  • Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Familiarity with government contracts and MIL standards.
