The Team:

The Portfolio Valuations & Monitoring team operates globally from various locations and provides Senior Management with timely analytics and strategic valuation support for portfolio companies. The team frequently collaborates with senior executives at portfolio firms to review key performance metrics.

Position Overview:

SoftBank Investment Advisers is in search of a motivated and seasoned Vice President of Portfolio Valuations to become a part of our Finance division. This role is available in multiple global offices.

This position offers a distinctive opportunity to deliver valuation expertise within a vibrant corporate venture capital setting. You will collaborate closely with a forward-thinking senior management team on strategic investments, performance evaluation, and the valuation of our assets, with a primary focus on growth-stage, premier technology firms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and uphold valuation models in line with SBIA's global valuation standards, primarily utilizing Anaplan.
  • Evaluate and analyze the performance of assigned investments, offering insights to assist SBIA Senior Management in their decision-making processes.
  • Continuously monitor current business, industry, and economic trends that may influence Fund performance.
  • Compile, distribute, and present data-driven analytics at the portfolio level to SBIA Senior Management.
  • Prepare, review, and discuss materials as part of the Investment Risk-led Portfolio Review process.
  • Enhance and maintain the Fund's proprietary technology platforms (e.g., FinSight, Anaplan), focusing on automation and operational excellence.
  • Foster strong relationships with executives of portfolio companies, Investment Professionals, and Senior Management.
  • Manage relationships with Limited Partners by providing regular updates on Fund performance and other commercial insights.
  • Assess potential investment opportunities and conduct financial due diligence for target investments.
  • Provide ad hoc assistance to investment teams regarding assigned investments and complex securities.
  • Prepare and distribute reports and analyses in compliance with critical fund and investor reporting timelines.
  • Support the year-end financial statement audit and any statutory audits, addressing follow-up inquiries from internal or external auditors related to portfolio valuations.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • BA / BSc / MSc with honors in Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field from a top-tier university.
  • Experience in Investment Banking, Big 4 Transaction Services, or Private Equity valuation is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in building, testing, and implementing valuation models.
  • Strong understanding of theoretical and applied finance, including the relevant mathematical frameworks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to confidently engage with Investment Professionals, Portfolio Companies, and Senior Management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Advanced skills in MS PowerPoint and MS Excel; familiarity with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, VBA, Anaplan, and PowerBI is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding, and dynamic environment.
  • CFA or CPA / ACA designation is preferred but not required.
