This role involves conducting echocardiograms using advanced diagnostic ultrasound technology. You will perform examinations following established protocols set by cardiologists, applying your expertise in imaging techniques, anatomy, physiology, and pathological conditions. This position operates within a hospital setting, catering to both outpatient and inpatient examinations. The role reports to the Director of Diagnostic Imaging and collaborates closely with the Diagnostic Imaging team and other departments to ensure comprehensive patient care.

This is a per diem role, offering flexible hours and days.

ADDITIONAL INCENTIVE:

Receive an extra 15% differential in lieu of benefits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

  1. Collaborate with Cardiologists and physicians by providing technical and professional insights.
  2. Review relevant pathology, surgical, and delivery reports to monitor patient progress and validate diagnostic accuracy.
  3. Utilize transducers and optimize imaging techniques effectively.
  4. Employ appropriate methods for pulsed wave, continuous wave, and color flow Doppler imaging.
  5. Conduct examinations in accordance with established ASE guidelines.
  6. Acquire necessary images for accurate diagnostics.
  7. Ensure proper patient positioning for comfort and exam requirements.
  8. Identify anatomical structures and recognize pathological conditions.
  9. Assess when to deviate from standard protocols as necessary.
  10. Address patient needs while maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  11. Engage in professional development through seminars, workshops, and affiliations to stay updated on industry trends.
  12. Adhere to safety practices to prevent injuries to self and others, including understanding MSDS, infection control, and safe lifting techniques.
  13. Comply with organizational policies and labor agreements.
  14. Maintain courteous and efficient interactions with team members and support groups in alignment with organizational values.
  15. Exhibit professionalism and ensure personal appearance meets job standards.
  16. Handle additional responsibilities as required by management to meet organizational expectations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (not limited to):

  1. Associate of Applied Science degree in Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technology.
  2. A minimum of 600 hours of clinical experience.
  3. Registered Cardiovascular Technologist or Sonographer certification from an accredited institution.
  4. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (HCP) certification to be obtained within three months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Ability to lift moderate weights (up to 50 lbs) and engage in frequent standing and walking.
  2. Capable of lifting, positioning, and transferring patients.
  3. Ability to maneuver heavy equipment.
  4. Engage in reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching activities.
  5. Good visual acuity for reading.
  6. Effective communication skills for accurate information exchange with healthcare professionals, patients, and families.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  1. Demonstrates proficiency with equipment as per departmental checklist.
  2. Exhibits critical thinking: seeks guidance when needed and solves problems independently.
