This role involves conducting echocardiograms using advanced ultrasound technology. The technician will perform assessments in accordance with established protocols set by cardiologists, applying expertise in imaging techniques, anatomy, physiology, and pathological conditions. The position operates within a hospital setting, catering to both outpatient and inpatient examinations. The individual will report to the Director of Diagnostic Imaging and collaborate closely with the Diagnostic Imaging team and other departments to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Position Type: This is a per diem role, with variable hours and days.

Additional Compensation:
Receive an extra 15% differential in lieu of benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with cardiologists and physicians, providing technical and professional insights.
  2. Review relevant medical reports to monitor patient progress and ensure diagnostic accuracy.
  3. Utilize transducers and image optimization techniques effectively.
  4. Employ appropriate methods for pulsed wave, continuous wave, and color flow Doppler imaging.
  5. Conduct examinations following established ASE guidelines.
  6. Acquire necessary images for accurate diagnostics.
  7. Ensure proper patient positioning for comfort and exam requirements.
  8. Identify anatomical structures and recognize pathological conditions.
  9. Exercise judgment on protocol deviations when necessary.
  10. Respond to patient needs while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  11. Engage in professional development through workshops and seminars to stay updated on industry trends.
  12. Adhere to safety practices to prevent injuries to self and others, including understanding of MSDS and infection control protocols.
  13. Comply with organizational policies and labor agreements.
  14. Maintain courteous and efficient interactions with team members and support groups.
  15. Exhibit professionalism in conduct and appearance while representing the organization.
  16. Fulfill additional responsibilities as required by management to meet organizational standards.

Qualifications:

  1. Associate of Applied Science degree in Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technology.
  2. A minimum of 600 hours of clinical experience.
  3. Registered Cardiovascular Technologist or Sonographer certification from an accredited institution.
  4. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification to be obtained within three months of hire.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to lift moderate weights (up to 50 lbs) and stand or walk for extended periods.
  2. Capable of lifting, positioning, and transferring patients.
  3. Proficient in moving and operating heavy equipment.
  4. Ability to reach, stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch as needed.
  5. Good visual acuity for reading and interpreting information.
  6. Effective communication skills for interaction with healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
