POSITION SUMMARY:
The Financial Counselor engages directly with patients who may qualify for various financial assistance programs within the Trinity Health network. This role involves assisting patients in navigating options such as Medicaid applications for ALC and non-ALC placements, exploring Financial Aid (Charity Care) through the application process, setting up payment plans, and supporting enrollment processes for Family Health Plus or Child Health Plus with the help of contracted payor enrollers.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree is advantageous. A high school diploma is essential, along with 2 to 3 years of progressive experience in a related field. An advanced degree may be required based on specific service needs. Supervisory experience is preferred. Certification/licensure as mandated by regulatory agencies is necessary. Participation in orientation and ongoing education is expected to maintain and enhance expertise.

SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Strong interpersonal abilities and a comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance are necessary. Skills in participatory management, team building, and motivation are beneficial but not mandatory.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Exposure Class I and II, service-specific. Limited exposure to blood and body fluids (II). Routine or potential exposure to blood and body fluids (I).

Primary Role Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the operation and maintenance of office equipment, including printers, copiers, and faxes.

  • Adheres to established network policies and procedures related to job functions.

  • Executes data entry with a solid understanding of unit-specific computer systems.

  • Ensures accuracy in performing primary job functions.
  • Complies with established Personnel Policies and Procedures.
  • Possesses knowledge of HIPAA regulations and adheres to them.

Pay Range:
$19.20-$27.85
