Advanced Wind Technician

Role Overview

As a key member of our team, the Advanced Wind Technician will report directly to the Site Manager. This position is crucial for supporting the maintenance and repair of wind turbine systems, focusing on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components. The primary objective is to ensure the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of wind turbines. In this senior role, you will leverage your technical expertise and equipment knowledge to perform tasks with minimal supervision, adapting procedures as necessary and developing effective action plans. Additionally, you will provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a secure working environment.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on variable pitch and variable speed wind turbines.
  • Conduct maintenance, repairs, and replacements of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components to resolve malfunctions.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams effectively.
  • Utilize electrical testing equipment for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Be available for a flexible on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of technical experience in the wind industry, or six months of relevant experience combined with a Wind Technician program certificate, or three years of experience in hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical fields in the absence of wind industry experience.
  • Proficient in using intermediate-level power tools, including hydraulic and diagnostic equipment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of industrial safety practices and protocols.
  • Valid Driver's License and capability to obtain a Passport.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with internet navigation and the ability to interpret computer data and schematics.
  • Ability to climb towers unassisted up to 300 feet and work in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to work in various adverse weather conditions.
  • Travel may be required as part of the role.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and their applications.
  • In-depth understanding of wind turbine system components.
  • Skills to perform mechanical and electrical repairs effectively.
