The Operations Systems Engineer will be engaged in the requirements, design, analysis, testing, and operational management of space vehicles and ground systems for various clients, including commercial, Department of Defense, and NASA entities.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit is composed of skilled professionals and leaders who facilitate the effective delivery of innovative technologies critical to our clients' missions. Our teams are dedicated to collaboration, integrity, continuous improvement, and exceptional execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design mission operations for ground systems.
  • Engage directly with clients and contractors to address inquiries, support technical meetings, and participate in enterprise working groups.
  • Assist in leading a collaborative team of systems engineers, integration and testing engineers, transition team members, and operators as necessary.
  • Support operational validation of software releases, database upkeep, user management, and the investigation of system issues, including the tracking and regression testing of Anomaly Reports.
  • Contribute to the development of operational documentation (Mission Operations Products), training materials, and the ongoing assessment of training effectiveness.
  • Participate in enterprise-level testing during operational demonstrations and system requirement verifications with clients.
  • Provide training to Spacecraft Engineers and Operations Engineers.
  • Maintain a consistent and predictable work schedule.
  • Foster effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, and the company. Interact positively with colleagues to sustain a productive work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Work Environment:

This role necessitates regular in-person engagement, requiring on-site work five days a week at the primary work location. Occasional travel and local commuting between company facilities and other locations may be necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • Work may be conducted in an office, laboratory, production area, cleanroom, outdoor, or remote research environment.
  • Occasional work in production centers may require the use of protective equipment.
  • Access to various facilities may occur under diverse weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Higher-level degrees, such as a Master's or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Relevant technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. The degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the US Secretary of Education.
  • A current, active TS/SCI CI Polygraph security clearance is mandatory.
  • Proven knowledge of ground and vehicle systems for spacecraft operations.
  • Strong system engineering and SEIT skills.
  • Experience in supporting system engineering for ground systems development, including adherence to cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
  • Understanding of systems engineering roles and functions, including operations concept development, requirements management, functional analysis, interface definition and control, synthesis, and verification and validation.
  • Experience in mission management, flight dynamics, or command and control domains.
  • Ability to quickly familiarize oneself with ongoing technical and management efforts.
  • Knowledge of related fields in software engineering, hardware engineering, integration, test engineering, quality engineering, and configuration/data management.
  • Experience in creating specifications, design and analysis documentation, and presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to lead group discussions.
  • Effectiveness in collaborating with individuals at all levels and with external clients, demonstrating a willingness to contribute and provide leadership to program activities and staff.

Compensation Information:

Full-Time Salary Range: $137,500

Please note: This range is based on market pay structures. Individual salaries are influenced by various factors, including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
