As a Lead Communications Systems Engineer, you will engage in the design, development, and analysis of software across various levels, including individual components, subsystems, and comprehensive systems. Your role will encompass testing and integration throughout all phases of system, project, and application development, ranging from straightforward tasks to intricate, multidisciplinary projects. You may also have the opportunity to lead teams in pioneering research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop innovative solutions to engineering challenges utilizing established engineering techniques and industry standards, ensuring adherence to high technical and company benchmarks while fulfilling all contract and customer expectations.
  • Collect, analyze, and assess design data to verify the adequacy and effectiveness of solutions against requirements and specifications, with potential responsibility for monitoring performance against timelines.
  • Design, enhance, and modify software applications, systems, components, and processes in accordance with established specifications.
  • Evaluate and propose innovative solutions and software design methodologies necessary to meet contract and customer specifications for both new and modified products and systems.
  • Prepare and compile essential data and engineering documentation to support technical discussions and product delivery.
  • Review engineering drawings, procedures, and orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Organize, analyze, and present technical marketing and proposal information for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with professionals from other engineering disciplines.
  • Communicate effectively about both technical and non-technical aspects of projects to team members and clients.
  • Foster a strong team environment by actively participating in key project elements and mentoring junior team members.
  • Handle classified documents with a thorough understanding of DoD protocols for safeguarding sensitive information.
  • Maintain and update necessary records and reports.
  • Address and resolve technical challenges or discrepancies promptly with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Lead software design, coding, and testing reviews.
  • Develop critical software components.
  • Integrate software with hardware systems.
  • Manage configuration for all software designs and deliverables.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to existing software and systems.
  • Maintain a consistent and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and nurture effective working relationships within the department and across the organization, ensuring a positive and productive work atmosphere.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Work Environment:
This position necessitates regular in-person engagement, requiring you to work on-site five days each week in the primary work location. Travel and local commuting between company campuses and other locations may be necessary.

Working Conditions:
  • Work may occur in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, as well as outdoor or remote research environments.
  • Occasional work in production centers may require the use of protective equipment.
  • Access to various facilities may be necessary under diverse weather conditions.
Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required, along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Higher-level degrees, such as a Master's or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Relevant technical experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python programming languages.
  • Experience with source code management tools (e.g., Git, Subversion).
  • Ability to work independently and apply problem-solving skills to navigate technical challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with software radio design and implementation.
  • Experience with hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog, particularly in communications or DSP applications.
  • Background in real-time embedded systems.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with embedded development environments.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience in digital hardware design.
  • Understanding of FPGA and ASIC design principles.
Compensation Information:
Full-Time Salary Range: $173,500

Please note that this range is based on market pay structures. Individual salaries are determined by various factors, including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
