Key Responsibilities:

As a Junior Satellite Systems Engineer, you will:
  1. Execute mission-specific real-time spacecraft and satellite operations during various phases including pre-launch readiness and evaluation.
  2. Provide technical guidance for on-orbit mission support, develop plans for addressing critical vehicle issues, and suggest alternative operating methods to ensure optimal mission support.
  3. Conduct failure analysis on the performance of orbiting satellites, focusing on subsystems and instruments.
  4. Utilize system software for spacecraft control tasks and enhancements.
  5. Assist in testing and validating software performance.
  6. Engage in activities related to the analysis of both ground and spacecraft operational systems.
  7. Establish, implement, and maintain standardized operating procedures.
  8. Issue directives and coordinate with the Satellite Control Network and other relevant organizations.
  9. Resolve conflicts to support acquisition, tracking, commanding, and telemetry data for space vehicles.
  10. Facilitate the operational transition of satellites to various ground support complexes as needed.
  11. Create, validate, and ensure compliance with necessary documentation.
  12. Implement anomaly response strategies, including participation in discussions and proposing recovery actions.
  13. Plan and schedule mission activities, conduct orbit analysis, and generate necessary products to ensure successful contact.
  14. Perform real-time evaluations of spacecraft, payload, and ground systems in line with mission requirements.
  15. Conduct trend analysis to identify any anomalous conditions.
  16. Provide initial troubleshooting for operational issues, document findings, and participate in corrective actions.
  17. Issue commands and instructions to tracking stations within specified timelines.
  18. Conduct post-mission reviews with tracking stations and participate in technical discussions.
  19. Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, operations, and maintenance events.
  20. Ensure the upkeep of historical files and operational support records.
  21. Maintain a consistent and predictable work schedule.
  22. Foster effective working relationships within the department and across the organization to promote a positive work environment.
  23. Perform additional duties as required.

Work Environment:
This role necessitates regular on-site engagement, requiring attendance three or more days each week at the primary work location. Occasional travel between company campuses and other locations may be necessary.

Working Conditions:
Work may occur in various settings including offices, laboratories, production areas, or remote research environments. There may be instances of working in production centers where protective equipment is required, and access to other facilities may occur under varying weather conditions.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
  1. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  2. Each higher-level degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) may substitute for two years of experience.
  3. A current, active TS/SCI security clearance.
  4. Eligibility for CI Polygraph.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of ground and vehicle systems for spacecraft operations.
  6. Strong system engineering and SEIT skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CI Polygraph.

Compensation:
The full-time salary range for this position is $113,500. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
