Position Overview

The Senior Budget Analyst plays a pivotal role in steering the budget formulation process, which encompasses budget creation, revenue forecasting, and the development of comprehensive business plans. This position is also responsible for identifying training requirements related to budget management and facilitating training sessions for departmental and financial managers.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:
1. Formulates the annual budget, including detailed budget workbooks and revenue forecasts.
2. Reviews SAS reports to identify and rectify budgetary discrepancies.
3. Conducts in-depth financial analysis and prepares detailed budget reports as necessary.
4. Updates position salary information and manages data transactions related to the budgeting module.
5. Creates analytical reports to assess financial performance and budget adherence.
6. Provides guidance and support to budget office personnel, coordinating and delegating tasks.
7. Prepares and reviews comprehensive five-year business plans and fee submissions for regulatory bodies.
8. Analyzes elective fee submissions, ensuring compliance with established policies and recommending adjustments as needed.
9. Evaluates budgets for revenue-generating units and suggests modifications based on analysis.
10. Organizes and conducts training sessions for financial and departmental managers.
11. Investigates and resolves inquiries pertaining to budget processes and policies.

Qualifications

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.

Experience:
A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Education:
An advanced degree in Business, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is between $66,760 and $72,000, contingent upon relevant experience. A comprehensive benefits package is included, featuring medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with paid holidays, vacation, retirement plans, and tuition waivers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Abilities:
Capable of training both novice and experienced financial managers, managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of budget preparation and financial management practices, including advanced budgeting principles.

Skills:
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient in relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office, SAS, and PeopleSoft Financials. Exceptional attention to detail and customer service orientation.
