About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Budget Development Specialist to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for leading the budget development process, including budget preparation, revenue projections, and elective fees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, budget workbooks, and revenue projections
  • Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies in budgetary reports
  • Compile detailed financial analysis projects and reports as required
  • Input position salary updates and prepare data imports and exports to and from the e-module
  • Develop analytical reports to monitor financial performance and budgets
  • Oversee and serve as a resource to budget office staff, coordinating and assigning duties
  • Prepare and review KSU's five-year business plans and mandatory fee submissions for the Board of Regents
  • Prepare elective fee submissions for the Board of Regents, including detailed analysis of miscellaneous fee revenue and expenditures
  • Analyze fees to ensure compliance with Board of Regents policy and recommend increases and/or decreases to fee amounts as appropriate
  • Analyze and update budgets for revenue-generating units
  • Coordinate and conduct training opportunities for business and budget managers
  • Research and resolve inquiries related to budgets and processes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Seven (7) years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Business, Finance, Public Administration, or related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to train non-financial managers and seasoned staff
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time, meeting assigned deadlines
  • Extensive knowledge of budget preparation and development
  • Knowledge of business and financial management practices
  • Knowledge of advanced budgeting principles and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication, time management, project management, and presentation skills
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, SAS, PeopleSoft Financials)
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
  • Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
