San Francisco, California, United States Openai Full time
About the Team

At OpenAI, our Fraud & Risk operations are pivotal in safeguarding our platform and users from potential threats. We cater to a wide array of clients, from individual users and emerging startups to established global enterprises, across ChatGPT and our API offerings. Within our Support organization, our team collaborates closely with Product, Engineering, Legal, Policy, Go To Market, and Operations teams to ensure we provide an optimal experience for our users while maintaining safety at scale.

About the Role

We are seeking skilled Fraud & Risk Analysts to work in partnership with internal teams to uphold safety and compliance across OpenAI platforms. You will play a crucial role in designing and executing systems aimed at mitigating risks posed by malicious actors and reducing abuse on a large scale. Your responsibilities will include managing high-stakes customer cases with sensitivity, collaborating with enterprise account teams to address critical issues for priority clients, and establishing feedback mechanisms to enhance our fraud detection and investigation policies. You will be integral in fostering expertise within the team and contributing to strategic initiatives for organizational and procedural enhancements. Ideally, you have experience in a fast-paced startup environment, addressing a range of fraud and risk-related challenges of varying complexity, and are adept at managing intricate fraud and risk matters while engaging with stakeholders.

Please note: This role may involve exposure to sensitive content, including highly confidential, violent, or otherwise disturbing material.

In this role, you will:
  • Engage directly with clients to resolve intricate issues related to risk, fraud, compliance, and trust and safety, while devising scalable operational solutions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Product, Legal, Safety, Operations, and Vendor teams to create and implement ongoing fraud and risk management processes or targeted campaigns to support OpenAI's clientele.
  • Conduct risk assessments and investigations by analyzing documentation, internal data, and third-party information.
  • Perform human-in-the-loop reviews to supplement automated systems in highly sensitive or high-risk fraud situations, guiding customers through the process.
  • Evaluate operational processes and systems, establishing feedback loops to drive improvements in collaboration with other product and operations teams.
  • Act as an incident manager for complex cases, serving as a liaison between product, compliance, legal, operations, and customer-facing teams.
  • Advocate for customer needs with product development, policy, legal, design, and engineering teams within OpenAI.
  • Provide other teams with top-tier training, playbooks, and workflows, while fostering a deep technical understanding of our fraud and risk systems and user requirements.
  • Become a fraud and risk authority across all our products and educate clients on our policies, applying judgment and policy expertise effectively.
You might thrive in this role if you:
  • Are enthusiastic about building. This position offers the chance to contribute to scaling everything from policy enforcement to the tools that facilitate it. Technical skills are a definite advantage in this role.
  • Possess 5+ years of experience and a demonstrated passion for risk assessment, fraud detection/investigation, trust & safety, legal operations, or similar fields.
  • Exhibit excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to understand and communicate complex technical issues.
  • Have a proven track record in scaling operations and fostering strong cross-functional relationships to enhance performance.
  • Demonstrate a humble attitude, a willingness to assist others, and a desire to acquire any necessary knowledge to ensure both team and customer success.
  • Operate with high energy, adeptly manage frequent context switching, and handle multiple projects simultaneously with a strong sense of ownership and prioritization.
