Job Summary

The Vice President of Fund Development is a key member of the leadership team at Essential Access Health, responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the organization's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Fundraising: Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to secure new six-seven figure grants annually, diversify funding sources, and build pipelines for future support.
  • Leadership Collaboration: Collaborate with the Co-CEOs to stay abreast of organizational priorities, align on opportunities for program support, and effectively communicate the organization's vision.
  • Donor Engagement: Support the Co-CEOs in developing relationships with key foundation leadership, meet regularly to understand their funding priorities, and use research to maintain a diverse donor pipeline for potential future support.
  • Mentorship and Training: Provide mentorship to the Foundations + Grants Specialist to effectively prepare materials, apply for relevant grants and programs, and ensure timely submission of reports and any other information needed to meet grant requirements.
  • Individual Donor Program: Identify opportunities to build an individual donor program and solicit corporate sponsorships.
  • Fundraising Infrastructure: Establish fundraising infrastructure, and implement and maintain donor management systems and development practices to ensure effective record-keeping, tracking, and communication.
  • Program Evaluation: Facilitate cross-team collaboration to complete program evaluation and effectively communicate progress and trends through annual reports and email communications.
  • Community Representation: Serve as an organizational representative at community, business, and philanthropic events.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate fundraising goals and share updates with key stakeholders to foster a culture of philanthropy, shared accountability, and continuous improvement to meet short and long-term fundraising goals.
Qualifications
  • Commitment to Mission: Strong commitment to Essential Access Health's mission and core values, and desire to be a part of a work environment and culture committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging.
  • Leadership Experience: A minimum of 7 years in professional fund development positions with experience providing team leadership and mentorship.
  • Philanthropy Knowledge: Strong knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising strategies and procedures.
  • Community Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of key philanthropic and business communities, success building partnerships with funders investing in sexual and reproductive health, equity, and aligned priorities a plus.
  • Financial Management: Ability to manage budgets and develop financial projections.
  • Project Management: Skilled project manager who is resourceful and consistently follows through with the execution of plans.
  • Relationship Building: Gifted relationship builder with superb interpersonal skills who connects easily with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from diverse backgrounds.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience managing commonly used fundraising and/or sales software.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience required.
  • Reproductive Justice: A strong commitment to reproductive justice and expanding access to abortion services.
