Job Summary

Hampton Lumber is seeking a skilled and experienced Planer Swing Shift Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our planer department, maximizing production, and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate machinery in a safe and efficient manner to minimize downtime and maximize production.
  • Lead and motivate a team of production staff to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and control production costs, including labor, materials, and equipment maintenance.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to production staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Monitor and report on departmental performance metrics, including production levels, quality, and safety.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1-3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Proven track record of improving production efficiency and productivity.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, including quality control and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and quality assurance.
