Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Bookkeeper to join our team at Glacier Peak Institute. As a key member of our financial team, you will be responsible for managing our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and track revenue intake from diverse sources into QuickBooks
  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger
  • Utilize QuickBooks for all accounting and financial tasks, adhering to best practices in nonprofit finance
  • Manage expense reports, including onboarding team members, processing approved reimbursements, and sending to QuickBooks
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and necessary reports
  • Generate timely financial reports and collaborate with our external accountant
  • Prepare financial data and coordinate with program staff to collect data and submit for reimbursement grants
  • Process bi-weekly payroll using ADP (hourly and salary) for Washington State only
  • Check mail and prepare and make bank deposits
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and make recommendations to our leadership team
  • Assist with audits and tax preparation
  • Develop working relationships with staff, board members, vendors, partners, and funding sources
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Other administrative duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience
  • Nonprofit work experience
  • Payroll processing experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications and QuickBooks
