Postdoctoral Research Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at Los Alamos National Security LLC. The successful candidate will work on projects related to energy transition and environmental management, leveraging machine learning techniques to revolutionize environmental management practices and subsurface modeling.
Key Responsibilities- Optimize long-term monitoring strategies and interpret complex environmental data using machine learning techniques.
- Leverage historical groundwater monitoring data and spatially integrative geophysical methods to inform decision-making.
- Collaborate with scientists in the group, other LANL groups, and external industrial and academic partners to advance research goals.
- Publish results in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present work at conferences.
- Ph.D. in a STEM field within the last five years or completion of all Ph.D. requirements by the commencement of appointment.
- Background in modeling and simulation of subsurface systems, with expertise in applied machine learning, multiscale modeling and simulation, contaminant fate and transport, and/or risk assessment and uncertainty quantification.
- Excellent written and communication skills, as demonstrated by a record of peer-reviewed publications and oral presentations at conferences and meetings.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a diverse team environment.
- Experience with multiscale modeling of subsurface systems.
- Experience with advanced machine learning techniques.
- Experience with contaminant fate and transport.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Julia.
